WSP and Parsons Brinckerhoff have combined and are now one of the world's leading engineering professional services consulting firms. Together they provide services to transform the built environment and restore the natural environment, and their expertise ranges from environmental remediation to urban planning, from engineering iconic buildings to designing sustainable transport networks, and from developing the energy sources of the future to enabling new ways of extracting essential resources. They have approximately 32,000 employees, including engineers, technicians, scientists, architects, planners, surveyors, program and construction management professionals, and various environmental experts. They are based in more than 500 offices across 39 countries worldwide.

Parsons Brinckerhoff is providing engineering and project management support to Eskom, South Africa’s power utility, for the development of the Medupi Power Station, a 4,800-MW power plant that will be one of the largest in the world.

The new plant, located 217 miles (350 kilometers) north of Johannesburg, will provide much-needed power to a growing population in a region where there hasn’t been a major new power plant in almost 20 years. A massive project with 38 large contracts and a peak workforce of more than 8,000, the Medupi Power Station consists of six coal-fired supercritical boilers that will provide a reliable source of power to the nation’s grid.

The construction of the Medupi Power Station and associated infrastructure in a remote community of the northern province of Limpopo will promote unprecedented economic development and employment in the region. The population of the area is expected to double during construction, requiring extensive logistical planning and support. The project will provide employment opportunities for thousands of South Africans, many of them inexperienced in construction, making training, safety and quality control of vital importance. Knowledge transfer among professional staff is also critical to the project’s success. Transfer of knowledge is an important part of Parsons Brinckerhoff's work for Eskom, which has developed a formal skills and knowledge transfer strategy.

As a result of this huge engineering undertaking, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff has a number of exciting positions available based in Limpopo Province including:-

• Commercial Manager
